The Polish people are one of the few reasons for optimism for Europe.
Hard working, diligent, with good morals and more centrist social policies. A real contrast to the old Europe which has been decaying for many years now, collapsing under the lazy weight of its old success.
Poland is now the sixth largest economy in the European Union 🇵🇱
€922.9bn of GDP in 2025. Ahead of Belgium, Sweden, Ireland and Austria. 4.9% of the entire EU economy. Only Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands are bigger.
The numbers behind it:
Real GDP grew 3.6% in 2025 against an EU average of 1.5%.
The European Commission forecasts 3.5% for 2026, second in the EU behind only Malta.
Unemployment is 3.1%, joint lowest in the union.
Poland's economy is 3.35x its 1990 size in real terms. Third fastest expansion in the EU over that period, behind only Ireland and Malta.
Real GDP per capita is up 252% since 1990, second in the EU behind Ireland.
Poland alone is now bigger than Romania and Czechia combined (€380bn plus €347bn).
However, GDP per capita in purchasing power terms still sits 10 to 20% below the EU average, and the budget deficit is the largest in the EU at above 6% of GDP. In nominal dollars Poland is still just behind Switzerland at $1.036tn versus $1.044tn. The IMF now expects that crossover in 2028.
Thirty five years of compounding growth, no lost decade, no recession between 1992 and 2020. And now focused on international expansion with companies like ElevenLabs or ICEYE.
