Four examples of Democratic or liberal respondents rejecting statements made by Democratic officials and/or holding beliefs sharply at odds with available data. 1) IRAN The Obama administration said Iran was “two or three months” away from producing enough weapons-grade material to make a nuclear bomb. The Biden administration estimated that Iran was “one to two weeks” away from producing enough weapons-grade material to make a nuclear bomb. Yet only 7% of Harris voters believed the claim that Iran “was one month away from having a very powerful nuclear weapon.” 2) RUSSIA AND VOTE TALLIES IN THE 2016 ELECTION  Obama Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said Russia “did not through any cyber intrusion alter ballots, ballot counts or reporting of election results.” Yet two-thirds of Democrats believed Russia tampered with vote tallies on Election Day to help Donald Trump win. 3) ISRAEL AND ‘GENOCIDE’ Sixty-five percent of Democrats believed Israel was committing “genocide” in Gaza versus 19% of Republicans who believed this. Biden Secretary of State Antony Blinken called the genocide accusation “meritless.” 4) POLICE KILLING OF UNARMED BLACK MEN More than half—53.5%—of self-described “very liberal” respondents thought police killed 1,000 or more unarmed black men in 2019. Nearly 8% thought police killed more than 10,000.  The Washington Post database recorded 14 unarmed black people fatally shot by police that year—including 12 men and two women.  Iran. Russian vote tampering. Gaza “genocide.” Police shootings. In each case, large numbers of Democratic or liberal voters rejected—or were profoundly mistaken about—facts acknowledged by Democratic officials and/or documented by available data. Are we noticing a pattern here?!?
