The first time I went to Whole Foods, I saw a little container of strawberries out for customers to sample. I was excited because free food is free food. I reached over and grabbed one. Before I could even take a bite, an older woman walking past looked at me and said: “Uh-uh.” That's it. No explanation. No lecture. Just “uh-uh.” She kept walking. I slowly looked at the strawberry in my hand... Then looked at the container... Then quietly put it back and closed the lid. I don't know who she thought she was, but apparently she had authority over my entire grocery-shopping experience. I wasn't even embarrassed. I was just like, “Yes ma'am.” 😂 Sometimes all it takes is one auntie with a serious tone to make you reconsider your entire decision-making process.
