The Semi runs three motors making 1,072 hp and can control its rear wheels independently. The system reads wheel speed, steering and grip, then sends torque to single wheels in microseconds. That reacts far faster than the traction control on a diesel truck. Priestley said the trailer was fully loaded for the test, not empty. Tesla has claimed since 2017 that the Semi is impossible to jackknife.
