Christopher Nolan dedicated The Odyssey to the late David Keighley, IMAX’s first chief quality officer and a longtime friend and mentor.
Keighley was a pivotal figure in Nolan’s embrace of IMAX technology across more than two decades of filmmaking. Nolan has described their collaboration as a joyful, ongoing conversation in which Keighley, along with his wife, Patricia, skillfully guided him in integrating large-format filmmaking into mainstream Hollywood productions.
Nolan and the broader filmmaking community regard the Keighleys as unsung heroes who helped bring IMAX to wider audiences while preserving the art of shooting on film. In a fitting tribute, a new IMAX camera used on The Odyssey was named the “Keighley” in his honor.
