You have no idea what just happened...
Elon Musk just opensourced the X algorithm AGAIN.
Here's everything you need to know about it:
1. For You is now basically a Grok-powered recommender
2. Groks predicts which posts you will like, reply, repost, click, dwell on, follow, mute, block, report
3. Out-of-network discovery is central (X heavily shows you posts from people you do not follow)
4. Your recent engagement history trains your feed fast
5. Negative feedback is explicit: not interested, block, mute, report, no dwell
6. X intentionally reduces same-author domination
7. Ads are blended into “safe gaps” with brand-safety logic
8. Grox adds spam, safety, policy, reply-ranking, embeddings, and content understanding
9. Topics and embeddings matter a lot (If your post clearly fits a topic, it is easier to recommend)
10. Strong posts can escape your follower graph if the model predicts engagement
The simple creator takeaway:
Don’t optimize for impressions.
Optimize for high-intent behavior:
replies, reposts, shares, follows, profile clicks, dwell, and video quality views.
And avoid creating posts people instantly mute, block, skip, or mark not interested.
