the funniest part is that after cs, i did a grad degree in natural language processing basically for fun cuz i was really interested in hci at the time but all of that stuff is quite useless now.
like a decade ago understanding semantics, context, & intent required a bunch of specialized techniques, & google was the main entity pioneering anything here cuz understanding what someone actually meant was existential to search.
but llm's effectively made an entire graduate level research discipline pretty obsolete. absolutely incredible rate of progress.
