SEMI forecasts global spending on equipment for 300mm front-end fabs will rise 31% year over year to $149 billion in 2026 and reach $227 billion in 2029.
Its Oct. 13 outlook also projects that construction will begin on a combined 38 new fabs or production lines worldwide across 2026 and 2027, excluding facilities dedicated solely to R&D.
Separately, SEMI expects fab construction spending to rise from $47.5 billion in 2026 to $68.4 billion in 2028. The forecasts point to a multiyear expansion in manufacturing capacity, but they do not represent orders already booked by equipment suppliers.
