My grandpa has had the same washing machine since the 80s. It still works. He’s never had to replace it. Meanwhile, I have to buy a new one every five years.
It’s not just washing machines. It’s everything. Fridges, dishwashers, phones. We used to build things to last. Now we build things to sell.
If they don’t last, what’s the point?
I just want a washing machine that works for 40 years. Is that too much to ask?
It's time to head back to the '80s and '90s 🎶

I was today years old when I learned from The Night Stalker doc that John Beard — that news anchor from Arrested Development — was also a real Los Angeles news anchor in the ’80s! https://t.co/JUY6w7VbiF
It is with profound shock and sadness that I announce the passing of my personal aide and bodyguard George Oduor this evening in Nairobi after a short illness.
George has been a part of Jaramogi's and my family since the late 80's. We have stood, fallen, and risen together.
He has been a vigilant, calm, confident, and extremely professional aide dedicated to duty and dependable rock on my side all these years through tumultuous periods.
I will miss George, and I am sorry to the myriad friends who miss him already.
To his wife, Carol George, entire family, colleagues, and friends, I offer Mama Ida's and the entire Jaramogi family's sincere condolences at this devastating loss.
May the almighty rest his soul in eternal peace
