EARTH’S OXYGEN HAS AN EXPIRATION DATE—1 BILLION YEARS FROM NOW A new supercomputer simulation says Earth will lose its oxygen supply in about 1 billion years, long before the Sun actually dies. The Sun will keep getting hotter. That heat will evaporate oceans, destroy the carbon cycle, and kill photosynthesis—the process that gives us oxygen. When plants die off, oxygen levels will crash. The atmosphere will fill with methane, like it did before complex life evolved. Out of 400,000 simulations, nearly all showed the same outcome: a mass extinction-level drop in oxygen. The study cuts the previous estimate—2 billion years of breathable air—in half. No air, no humans, no animals. Only microbes that don’t need oxygen would survive. Source: NDTV / Nature Geoscience

In earthquake-prone Japan engineers are testing homes that briefly lift off the ground when tremors hit. Developed by Air Danshin Systems the tech uses sensors and air compressors to create a cushion of air under the house reducing quake damage. After the shaking stops the house gently settles back into place. Happy Earth Day! Thank you to our owners, employees & advocates. Tesla wouldn’t exist without your support. For the last 22 years, we’ve been working tirelessly to build a world that: – is transported by electric vehicles – is powered by solar energy – runs on batteries Teslas are among the most energy-efficient vehicles on the road – combined with the lowest maintenance costs of any new vehicle in America, this enables S3XY & @Cybertruck to further reduce resource use & waste at scale. Most importantly, abundance & sustainability are not mutually exclusive. In fact, tech is what ultimately enables the scale of a fully renewable economy. This is why our mission includes: Robotaxi = ultra low-cost, premium point-to-point electric transport, making sustainable mobility accessible to more people Optimus = automating repetitive & dangerous labor to transform industrial work & scale output sustainably TL;DR, the future for Earth is bright 🌎❤️

RARE EARTHS AREN’T RARE—CHINA OWNS THE REFINING, NOT THE MINES Elon’s right: rare earth minerals are found all over the world—including in the U.S.—but China controls over 85% of global refining. That’s the chokehold. The problem isn’t digging the stuff up. It’s turning it into magnets for EVs, missiles, and wind turbines. Even U.S.-mined material often gets sent to China for processing. Until America rebuilds its heavy industry, it will stay dependent. The minerals are here—but the power is still there. Source: USGS, IEA

The earth actually takes about 365 days and 6 hrs to complete a trip round the sun, but for convenience, we ignore the 6 hrs. And over 4 years, the ignored extra 6 hrs yearly accumulate to a full day (24 hrs) which we then add as Feb 29th, creating a leap year
