The Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi emphasised the importance of healthy lifestyle choices among school students during #ParikshaPeCharcha# 2025 and #MannKiBaat#, recognising the growing concern of childhood obesity. In alignment with this National priority, an advisory has been issued by the Department of School Education & Literacy to all States and Union Territories to create awareness about obesity and about reducing the usage of cooking oil by 10% in day-to-day life among teachers, parents, students and communities. A small step like managing oil consumption can reduce obesity among youngsters and will pave the way to become a fit and healthy nation. Let every school, every kitchen and every home be a part of this mission for mindful nourishment! #WorldHealthDay# #PMPoshan# #NEP2020# #SchoolEducation# #SamagraShiksha# #Nutrition# #DoSEL#

On this World Health Day, the Department of School Education and Literacy reiterates its commitment under the PM POSHAN Scheme. The focus is on nutrition and health (including mental health) of children and is being addressed through Eat-Right healthy meals, training of Cook-cum-helpers and counsellors and community participation in the schools. The vision is aligned with #NEP2020#. Additionally, around 5.72 lakh schools have established School Nutrition Gardens to encourage healthy eating habits, experiential learning and a connection with nature. Through Tithi Bhojan, a community-driven tradition of sharing food in schools, more than 5.53 crore students have benefitted in nearly 5.99 lakh schools. States and UTs are further enriching nutrition by providing locally available items, like ragi, java, eggs, milk and chikki, in aspirational districts and regions with a high prevalence of anaemia. Mental health is also an essential pillar of student well-being and is being actively supported through the Manodarpan initiative (Helpline Number: 844-844-0632), which has received 1.7 lakh calls. 1,029 Sahyog sessions and 207 Paricharcha sessions are organised regularly to create awareness about the importance of mental health, build knowledge and address various concerns related to the identification and prevention of substance abuse, mental health and emotional well-being among school students, parents and teachers. Let us build a community together to nurture healthy minds and nourished bodies for a brighter tomorrow. #NEP2020SuccessStories# #SchoolEducation# #Education4All# #SamagraShiksha# #DoSEL# #WorldHealthDay# #PMPoshan#
