Investing in the Future Maritime Workforce⚓ On March 24, @SeawayUSDOT visited @WNY_MaritimeCS. Our Deputy Administrator and Executive Officer spoke with upperclassmen enrolled in the school’s Maritime Careers class—a unique program that introduces students to careers on the water, teaches navigation fundamentals, and even includes hands-on boatbuilding at the Buffalo Maritime Center. This visit is part of our ongoing commitment to growing the maritime workforce and inspiring the next generation of seafarers, engineers, and innovators. By connecting directly with students, we hope to open eyes to the diverse, rewarding career paths available in the marine transportation sector—and to introduce GLS as an employer of choice in the industry. The energy, curiosity, and talent we see in these students is a powerful reminder: the future of maritime is bright, and it's being shaped in classrooms and communities across the Great Lakes and around the country. 🌊 Let’s keep building that future—one student, one opportunity, and one conversation at a time. #MaritimeCareers# #WorkforceDevelopment# #FutureMariners# #MentorshipMatters# #GreatLakesProud# #CommunityEngagement# #GLS#

🚨Media Advisory: 🔗https://t.co/6bi3WWOCtD Ice-clearing Activities Along The St. Lawrence River Ice-clearing activities will begin on or about March 15, 2025, throughout the St. Lawrence River, including the area between the Eisenhower and Snell Locks in preparation for the Seaway’s upcoming navigation season. All ice fishermen, snowmobile operators, and All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) operators should refrain from using the areas where ice has been cleared to avoid numerous open water leads and unstable ice cover caused by the clearing.
