Some thoughts on what is needed for global markets to stabilize. Views welcome. US market have sold off in a unhinged way ! (over 10% in last 2 days) Why ? Because the tariffs imposed were unhinged ! Instead of reciprocal (I do to you what you do to me) they were calculated in a arbitrary manner - based on the total trade imbalance with each country ! And that makes the Trump administration look unhinged. These moves suggest that they want to wipe off deficits meaningfully.. not just tariffs but more structural & non-trade barriers as well.. but eliminating deeply in-built non tariff barriers will take years or may never happen.. so this is just not credible ! basically it has become a credibility issue ! For global markets to stabilize - we need to see credible off ramps for countries with respect to these tariffs. Basically a message or path forward from Trump or his team - which tells other countries - 'you do this & this and we will bring these tariffs lower' So all the market may actually need to stabilize may be a headline away ! Regarding the prices discourse, at this point really the only thing left is to accept it. The Trump tariffs announced yesterday sealed the deal. Every single video game publisher has been wishing behind the scenes to increase game prices, they were just afraid to be the first and have to face all the initial backslash. Well, Nintendo was the first now, and we assure you the rest will follow soon. Inflation is a thing yet video game prices remained mostly static for decades, in hindsight is incredible we had the same prices for so long. And now with those high tariffs, those costs will also be passed down to customers. Remember how outrageous the PS5 Pro price was when it was announced? Have you thought that in around 2 years PS6 will be announced for even more than that? Even with all the discourse the most likely thing is that the Switch 2 pre-orders will sell out in minutes, and that's what really matters in the end. Question 2: Given the fact that Starlink refused to share critical data with Indian authorities citing data privacy laws, how does the Govt of India plan to deal with such resistance from Elon Musk’s Starlink on data sharing and the potential misuse of Starlink?
