A Day at Karwar Naval Base! On the occasion of the National Maritime Day, on 05 Apr 25, I had the privilege of witnessing a truly remarkable milestone for India, the #IndianNavy#, and the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). From the ambitious strides in building infrastructure and enhancing naval capabilities as well as strengthening the region's economy through Project Seabird to Flagging off INS Sunayna which set sail as the Indian Ocean Ship SAGAR fostering strong bonds of friendship across the Indian Ocean, and carrying out a comprehensive review of the Navy's combat capabilities and future plans. In the true spirit of MAHASAGAR, the Indian Navy continues its exceptional commitment to ensuring maritime security, engaging with IOR nations, and contributing significantly to nation-building. This day is a reminder of how vital our maritime domain is, not just for India's security, but for fostering harmony and growth across the region. @IndianNavy

अभी हाल ही में, माननीय प्रधानमंत्री जी ने मॉरीशस की अपनी यात्रा के दौरान SAGAR Initiative से भी आगे बढ़कर, MAHASAGAR initiative की बात की। MAHASAGAR यानि Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions. यह initiative, Security And Growth for All in the Region यानि SAGAR initiative को और भी ज्यादा, advanced और collaborative तरीके से लागू करने का, एक platform बनेगा। इससे Indian ocean region में, better cooperation को ensure किया जा सकेगा। अब, जब भारत ने SAGAR को बदल कर, MAHASAGAR में तब्दील कर दिया है, तो IOS SAGAR की समुद्री यात्रा के लिए, इससे उपयुक्त समय भला और क्या हो सकता है: रक्षा मंत्री श्री @rajnathsingh

आज अच्छे ships, state of the art weapons और equipment, तथा हमारे well trained, motivated sailors से सुसज्जित भारतीय नौसेना, जब दूसरे Friendly Nations के साथ , कदम से कदम मिलाकर, आगे बढ़ने का संकल्प लेती है, तो वह एक नया इतिहास रचने की ओर भी आगे बढ़ती है। मैं IOS SAGAR को एक ऐसे ही initiative के रूप में देखता हूँ, जो Indian ocean region में, भारत के साथ-साथ सभी stakeholders के लिए आवश्यक है: रक्षा मंत्री श्री @rajnathsingh

एक तरह से यह हम सबके लिए गर्व का विषय है, कि Indian ocean region में, आप सभी stakeholders के साथ मिलकर, हमारी Navy, peace ensure कर रही है। जिस वजह से, न सिर्फ सुरक्षित व्यापार संभव हो पा रहा है, बल्कि इस पूरे region में prosperity को भी बढ़ावा मिल रहा है। हम Indian ocean region को, एक ऐसे क्षेत्र के रूप में develop करना चाहते हैं, जो Brotherhood और shared interest का symbol बनकर उभरे: रक्षा मंत्री श्री @rajnathsingh

इसके अलावा आप देखें, तो पूरे Indian ocean region में, किसी भी दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण आपदा के समय, या किसी मुसीबत के समय, भारतीय नौसेना first responder के तौर पर उभरी है। Ships की hijacking, समुद्री लुटेरों की करतूतें, जैसी अनेक घटनाएँ, Indian ocean region में होती रहती हैं। ऐसी situations में हमारी Navy द्वारा, सिर्फ भारतीय जहाजों की ही नहीं, बल्कि विदेशी जहाजों की सुरक्षा का भी उदाहरण सामने आता है। Indian ocean region में free navigation, Rules based order, anti-piracy और peace and stability secure करना, हमारे सबसे बड़े उद्देश्यों में से एक है: रक्षा मंत्री श्री @rajnathsingh

भारत जब Indian ocean क्षेत्र में, अपनी presence को बढ़ा रहा है, तो यह हमारे national interest के साथ-साथ, हमारे friendly nations की, सुरक्षा को भी, enhance कर रहा है। अर्थात, हिंद महासागर में हमारी presence, एक shared value को represent करती है। यह हमारी security के साथ-साथ, हमारे friendly nations की, security को भी ensure करती है: रक्षा मंत्री श्री @rajnathsingh

जब मैं Indian ocean region में, भारत की presence की बात करता हूं, तो इसका संबंध सिर्फ भारत की security और national interests से ही नहीं होता, बल्कि यह पूरे Indian ocean region के, हमारे सभी friendly countries के बीच, equality of rights and duties की ओर भी, इशारा करता है। हमारी Navy, Indian ocean region में यह ensure करती है कि कोई राष्ट्र अपनी overwhelming economy और military power के दम पर, किसी दूसरे राष्ट्र को दबा न सके। भारत यह ensure करता है, कि Indian ocean में, किसी की sovereignty पर आँच आए बिना, उनके interest को protect किया जा सके: रक्षा मंत्री श्री @rajnathsingh

Indian Ocean Region की maritime security से, भारत और कहीं न कहीं Indian ocean के तटवर्ती देशों का national interest भी, बेहद घनिष्ठ रूप से जुड़ा हुआ है। मैं पहले भी कई बार, अलग-अलग मंचों पर, इस बात का जिक्र कर चुका हूं, कि हमारे लिए Indian ocean region, सिर्फ security perspective से ही important नहीं है, बल्कि यह region हमारे trade, economy, tourism, culture और overall देखें, तो एक तरह से पूरे national interest को ही प्रभावित करता है: रक्षा मंत्री श्री @rajnathsingh

इसे संयोग ही कहा जा सकता है कि आज ही के दिन, लगभग 1 century पहले, 5 अप्रैल 1919 को, भारत का पहला व्यापारी जहाज- सिंधिया steam navigation company का SS loyalty नामक जहाज, मुंबई से लंदन के लिए रवाना हुआ था। उस दिन को याद रखने के लिए, 1964 से ही हम 5 अप्रैल को, National Maritime day मनाते हैं। आज जब मैं National Maritime day पर और इस important occasion पर, आपके बीच उपस्थित हूँ, तो मैं Indian ocean region की, maritime security के ऊपर, कुछ बातें आपसे करना चाहूंगा: रक्षा मंत्री श्री @rajnathsingh
