Nothing is more ridiculous than watching someone learn a word on TikTok or in school last Tuesday, then turn around and lecture older people who’ve been using that word correctly for decades. I am tired of defending my use of language because YOU have morphed it. You didn’t discover the term. You didn’t invent the meaning. You heard a watered-down, trendy version of it on social media and decided everyone before you was wrong. Language evolves. Nobody is denying that. It is also dependent on geography. What is said in New Jersey may not be the same as Alabama. But evolution doesn’t mean pretending the original definition never existed just because your generation slapped a new attitude on it and made it go viral. Arguing with older people who used the term before TikTok or Snap was even a fever dream isn’t education. It’s arrogance in a ring light. Get a dictionary. You'll find one in your phone if you get it off selfie mode.
