President Trump just posted on Truth Social that the United States has closed an oil agreement with Venezuela. Majority U.S. control of more than 65 billion barrels of proven reserves. No cost to the American taxpayer. That is a country putting itself first. “THE BIGGEST OIL DEAL IN WORLD HISTORY.” Energy is power. A nation that begs for barrels does not set terms. A nation that controls supply does. For decades the world treated American demand like a piggy bank. Wars, cartels, and hostile states pulled the price. The Strategic Petroleum Reserve was drained to a 40-year low. That was weakness sold as policy. This deal more than doubles American oil reserves on paper and points the supply at American drivers. Lower pump prices are not a slogan if the barrels are real. They are the point. Marco Rubio and Pete Hegseth did this with interim President Delcy Rodriguez and private industry. Credit the action. Personality contests do not fill a tank. Venezuela has the largest proven reserves on earth and spent years wasting them. The United States has the industry to develop them. Mutual interest is not charity. It is the only deal that lasts. America should own its energy future. Tonight that is the direction. Make it stick.
