Twenty-five years of Ocean’s and one more movie together last year, and the photo on the carpet was suddenly too costly. Pitt has spent a decade as the easy villain in a divorce that will not end. He has denied the allegations. That did not matter. The foundation still treated a friend like a liability. That is not courage. That is a guest list with a sermon attached. His kids have even dropped his name. Hollywood took the hint and finished the job. If the friendship only worked when Pitt was still useful, it was never friendship. It was window dressing. Clooney got to keep the human-rights pin. Pitt got the hallway. The man already isolated is the one they drop first. Team Pitt. The gala will survive. Loyalty apparently will not.
