At the Karot Hydropower Project on Pakistan's Jhelum River, the value of clean energy is not only measured in kilowatt-hours, but also seen in smiles, drawings, and shared moments. Recently, Karot held a community open day to mark the fourth anniversary of its commercial operation, welcoming nearby families, local representatives and children to celebrate together. Children shared drawings of Karot and its positive impact on their communities, while group photos, games and recreational activities brought everyone closer at the project site. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan. As a key clean energy project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, Karot has generated about 11 billion kWh of clean electricity since entering commercial operation in June 2022, helping support local development with stable green power. Beyond power generation, the project has also continued to support biodiversity protection, infrastructure improvement, healthcare, education and community development.
