Our time at @WebX_Asia made one thing clear, the conversation in Tokyo has moved past whether tokenization happens, and into how it fits within existing financial market infrastructure. Japanese Government Bonds on-chain came up constantly, but not just as an issuance story. The real interest was in settlement, collateral mobility, and liquidity on shared infrastructure, the operational plumbing that determines whether tokenization actually works at scale. What became clear across these conversations was that institutions in Japan aren't evaluating blockchains. They're evaluating infrastructure that can meet the requirements of regulated financial markets, privacy and selective disclosure, interoperability, governance, and operational certainty. Japan isn't moving the fastest but it is building deliberately, with long-term institutional adoption in mind.
