Toby Young got into Oxford with the help of his father, Lord Young. He was a nepo baby. Because he went to a comprehensive school, he qualified for a scheme that lowered the grades needed to get into Oxford. Even then, he still failed to get the required grades. Oxford had accidentally sent him a standard acceptance letter meant for successful applicants. When they realised their mistake, they sent him a rejection letter instead. Then his dad made a call. After that, Oxford decided it had a “moral obligation” to honour the original acceptance and let Toby in anyway.
