They can't get past how it looks because to them, the primary purpose of a house isn't shelter. It's comfort. Existential and physical. Anyone could enjoy this house. But most people aren't willing to do what is required to do so, which involves running the hedonic treadmill in reverse. Most of us would need to sleep under a bridge first. And we probably should.
