Dolly Parton gave her heart, soul, and music to Tennessee — and to the rest of the world. She is a true American idol, and renaming Nashville airport in her honor is a 100% fitting tribute.
Tennessee is moving toward putting Dolly Parton’s name on the gateway to Music City.
Gov. Bill Lee and Nashville International Airport announce plans to rename the airport in honor of the country music legend, who died Tuesday at 80 after a brief battle with cancer.
“Dolly Parton’s extraordinary life is forever woven into the fabric of our state,” Lee says, calling her Tennessee’s “favorite daughter.”
The proposal follows an outpouring of public support, including a petition that has topped 155,000 verified signatures. The airport authority is set to discuss the tribute at its Sept. 17 meeting.
