56% of global ecommerce value now flows through digital wallets. That’s according to Global Payments’ 2026 report, which surveyed consumers across 42 markets. The number says something important about how people want to pay: customers are increasingly bringing their own payment habits with them, and those habits look different from market to market. A customer in Brazil might reach for one wallet, while a customer in another market has a completely different default. For businesses selling globally, being able to support those local preferences can be the difference between having a customer reach checkout and actually completing the payment.
