Ahead of Yom Kippur, President Herzog has shortened the criminal record of Elor Azaria—the IDF soldier convicted of manslaughter for shooting an incapacitated terrorist in Hebron in 2016.
Herzog cited Azaria’s regret and time served to grant a "fresh start," backing Defense Minister Israel Katz’s recommendation over military opposition.
