Britain’s Prince William turned London’s The Mall, leading to Buckingham Palace, into a temporary cricket pitch on Tuesday (October 13), joining current and former international players for an informal match. The players included former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, West Indies legend Brian Lara and England captain Joe Root. William was seen batting against gentle deliveries and posing for selfies with onlookers.
The event celebrated sporting ties between Britain and India ahead of the annual summit and awards ceremony of William’s Earthshot Prize, scheduled to take place in India next month. Founded in 2020, the prize recognises five winners each year, awarding them £1 million ($1.32 million) apiece to scale solutions aimed at repairing the planet.
