One of my bucket list items is to bring my boys to Starbase, Texas. I want to tour the place with them, see everything up close and witness a Starship launch in person. I still plan on doing that, but I sure as hell never thought there might come a day when we could watch Starships launch from our own backyard in South Louisiana! I’ve been reading everything I can find about Starbase, Louisiana since the announcement yesterday, and the more I read, the more freaking excited I get about what this could mean for Louisiana. Especially our kids. Elon Musk once said we need things that make us want to get out of bed in the morning and be excited about the future. Well, here you go! We’re talking about a MASSIVE investment right here in South Louisiana. Thousands of jobs! Engineers, welders, electricians, mechanics, operators, construction workers, technicians and probably more that I’m leaving out. There are kids sitting in classrooms around South Louisiana right this second who could be working at Starbase, Louisiana one day. How freaking cool is that?! Louisiana has watched so many kids grow up and leave because the opportunities they wanted just weren’t here. Now some of these kids won’t need to move to Texas or anywhere else to make a damn good living while doing something to bring humanity to Mars and beyond! What does Starbase, Louisiana look like 20 years from now? What businesses grow up around it? What schools start building programs around it? What opportunities come here because SpaceX came here first? Nobody knows yet, but I guarantee that will all happen! How exciting is that? Our grandchildren will think seeing a rocket heading to space from the Louisiana coast is a completely normal daily occurrence! Elon says they eventually plan on launching more than 30 Starships A DAY from Louisiana. Some of our kids and grandkids will eventually be involved in sending them up there, and THAT gives me so much hope for their future! So yeah, I’m still taking my boys to Starbase, Texas. That bucket list item isn’t going anywhere. I also look forward to the day where we are standing in our own backyard together and watching a Starship climb into the Louisiana sky! Hell, maybe I’ll find a way to be a part of this and give them my own personal tour of the place! Thank you for bringing these amazing opportunities to Louisiana, Elon!
