I wonder, with the large amount of Continental shelf off shore from the coast of Louisiana (right off Pecan Island & extending several hundred miles) if there isn’t more to the plan to develop Starbase Louisiana than just the 10 or so launch towers and infrastructure in the big announcement today. Recall that @SpaceX also has expressed interest recently about off-shore sites too. “SpaceX confirms offshore Starship launch-and-catch platforms remain under consideration. In a new official filing submitted to the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management on August 7, SpaceX said it supports using the Outer Continental Shelf for offshore launches and reentries, including purpose-built and repurposed facilities capable of launching and catching reusable spacecraft. SpaceX specifically highlighted Starship and said high-cadence, cost-effective launch and recovery infrastructure, including offshore platforms will be essential to expanding America’s presence in space and growing the commercial space economy.
