Five speculative names, all washed out, all with enough cash to survive the wait. That's the setup.
$QS at $4.57 — 76% off its high, sitting right on the 52-week low. $859M in cash, almost no debt. Burns ~$60M a quarter, so roughly a year of runway — but VW and Honda partnerships are real and cell output is doubling in H2.
$SMR at $7.75 — down 81% in a year, 86% off its $57 high. Nuclear is the only baseload answer to the AI power crunch, and the market just forgot. Near the low with the whole sector repricing.
$JOBY at $5.95 — at the 52-week low, down 55% this year. $2.3B in cash and investments covers two years of burn. FAA certification is the binary event — Texas flights are the first real-world proof.
$SOUN at $5.84 — 74% off its high. Revenue up 45% and accelerating, guidance raised, $200M net cash with almost no debt. The business is working; the stock just isn't.
$SERV at $4.62 — 75% off its high, down 56% this year. Delivery robots with Uber DNA, near the low.
none of these are healthy in the traditional sense — they all burn cash and dilution is always on the table. What's healthy is the balance sheet relative to the fear: no near-term bankruptcy risk in any of them, and you're buying 70-85% below the highs.
This is the bottom-of-the-cycle speculative basket. Small sizes, wide stops, and you only need one or two to work.
