Mission-critical sensing systems generate enormous amounts of data. The challenge is turning that data into insight—identifying the changes that matter, even when they’re difficult to distinguish from noise Our scientists are exploring applications of quantum computing to space-based data for change detection. In this example from Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, our quantum algorithm identified a subtle change between two synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images more clearly than classical computing: an aircraft come and going.
