The AI will kill everyone is the same people who claimed climate change would've destroy the planet by this decade. Now that does not mean climate change is fake or that AI has no risks. It means real concerns often get turned into apocalyptic predictions because fear attracts attention, funding and political influence. Jensen Huang completely rejected the idea that AI could end humanity by 2030, putting the probability at 0%. There will always be extremists on both sides because each side wants to push a certain narrative. One side claims that AI will kill everyone unless governments slow development and impose strict controls while the other side acts like AI has no serious risks and that every safeguard is an attack on innovation. Both narratives can benefit the people promoting them. Doomsday predictions can justify licensing requirements, compute restrictions, and more government control while dismissing every risk can benefit companies that want AI development and infrastructure spending to continue without interference. The reasonable position is somewhere in the middle. We should continue developing AI, test new systems aggressively, and address real dangers without allowing extremists on either side to control the conversation through fear or denial.
