In the first quarter of 2026, an average of 3.56 billion people used Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger or its other services each day, thats 20 million fewer than the previous quarter. According to Meta the decline in users was almost entirely due to external events like internet blackouts in Iran and restrictions blocking WhatsApp in Russia and without those issues, user numbers would have grown. Even so, the overall user base is still up about 4% from the same time last year. Revenue for the quarter reached $56.3 billion, a 33% increase from a year earlier.
