People in Morgan County, Georgia, say their well water turned brown after construction started on Meta’s huge data center nearby.
At a congressional hearing this week, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez showed jars of dirty water collected from local homes.
Residents say the problems began after heavy construction and blasting started at the site. Some families reported sediment in their water, low pressure, damaged appliances, and the need for bottled water for daily use.
Meta says it does not use groundwater or private wells and that an independent study found no link between the data center and the water issues.
The EPA has now agreed to investigate the complaints.
