A former Treyarch developer who worked on Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops 2 says it’s “bittersweet” watching the games become huge hits again.
Re-released on PlayStation for $40 each with no new features or paid DLC, both quickly became some of the year’s most-played games.
“These legacy titles are still massive money-makers for Activision and Microsoft.”
The dev finds it frustrating that companies make huge profits from games built through years of hard work and crunch, while the original developers receive nothing from continued sales.
“That wealth needs to be shared retroactively.”
