[ Field Footage ] On the morning of August 26, 2026, a sudden and devastating mudslide originating from the Nepalese side struck Gyirong Port in Tibet’s Gyirong County, a major China-Nepal border crossing. CCTV footage showed people fleeing in panic as a massive wall of mud, rocks, and water rapidly engulfed buildings, vehicles, and the checkpoint area, cutting off roads, communications, and power. Local authorities have reported major casualties and missing persons, with large-scale rescue operations now underway. We pray that all those affected remain safe and that casualties can be kept to the absolute minimum.
