An open-source model is better at translation than Google Translate.
And guess where it was made. 🍁😉
On the WMT benchmark (averaged across all languages), North Small Translate achieves an 83.6 score, outperforming models such as DeepL and Google Translate as well as open options, including GLM 5.2 and Mistral Large 3.
