🙀A terrifying scene! A suspected reservoir discharge in Wangqing County, Jilin Province, China, sent floodwaters carrying all kinds of debris surging down the streets. On July 29, heavy rainfall triggered flooding in Chunyang Town, Wangqing County, Yanbian Prefecture, Jilin Province. Raging floodwaters poured into the town’s streets, sweeping away large numbers of bags used for cultivating wood ear mushrooms. Even garbage bins were washed away. Pedestrians and drivers were terrified and fled for their lives. Some netizens asked: “Is this a flash flood? Why does it look more like a reservoir upstream is releasing water?” The Chunyang Reservoir is located upstream from Wangqing County. According to an official notice, the reservoir was operating above its flood-control limit, meaning that water was naturally spilling over the dam. However, the authorities did not dare to call it a reservoir discharge.
