We continue to call @colosseum competitions “hackathons” for a reason.
While we’re ultimately looking to fund startups, the very best companies rarely start as one. They often begin as a side project someone can’t stop working on, an idea that seems too small or too weird to be a business, until it creates a market nobody saw coming.
Rebranding what we do as a “startup competition” risks attracting people chasing metas or larping as startup founders.
Even though Colosseum is structurally different from a traditional hackathon, we've found "Hackathon” attracts builders chasing what genuinely interests them.
And I believe that’s where the outliers come from.
