⚡️ Poland sets a condition for Ukraine: the Bandera issue must be resolved before EU membership
Polish Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said that Warsaw alone will decide whether to support Ukraine's accession to the European Union, stressing that no one has the right to dictate how Poland should vote.
Asked whether Ukraine could join the EU while Stepan Bandera remains one of the central figures of its national pantheon, the minister replied that Kyiv must meet all EU accession requirements, including those related to historical memory.
According to Kosiniak-Kamysz, a candidate country cannot build its policy of remembrance around figures and events that cause pain and provoke objections from its EU partners. He also accused the Ukrainian authorities of using the historical dispute with Poland for domestic political purposes.
