Over the past year, it has captured 0.3% of Ukraine’s territory, paying for it with more than 400,000 soldiers killed and wounded. Yet all these enormous efforts, all this blood and tears, have essentially been in vain. Ukraine still stands proudly as an independent state. The Ukrainian language, culture, and national identity are alive and thriving. Essentially, RUSSIA HAS ALREADY LOST THE WAR. However, ITS LEADERSHIP DOES NOT ALLOW ITSELF TO ADMIT DEFEAT, fearing international legal responsibility and possible retaliation from its own people.
