What should parents know about tetanus? It’s a bacterial infection transmitted primarily through contaminated wounds—it isn’t contagious and cannot spread from person to person. Symptoms can include muscle spasms and “lockjaw,” making it difficult to swallow or breathe. It also has not been proven that the risk of permanent injury or death from the tetanus vaccine is lower than the risk from tetanus itself. Informed choices begin with understanding the disease, its risks, available treatments, and the vaccine. Review the facts here: #parenting#
