As community kitchens across Gaza close or scale back, families are becoming even more dependent on direct meal distributions like this one. Please help: On August 2, The Sameer Project distributed 483 ready-to-eat meals of rice with kofta to families in Biyara Al-Wahidi Camp in Al-Tuffah, Gaza City. For displaced families, a prepared meal is more than food. Cooking inside overcrowded tents means dealing with extreme heat, lighting fires near flammable shelters, rodents, insects, limited fuel, and almost no safe space to prepare a meal. Ready-to-eat food gives families one less burden to carry. The 483 meals of rice and ground meat were for a total of $1,342 after commission of 11% fees. As other sources of food assistance disappear, we need to increase - not reduce - these distributions.
