This girl was walking alone. A group of boys were laughing and following her. She kept trying to ignore them. People around were busy in their own work. No one was looking at her. No one cared. She was trembling. Of course she was upset. She was being harassed and not a single person was coming to help her. I couldn’t just stand there and watch. I walked up to her and said, “Your husband just called. He’s coming to pick you up.” I said it loud enough so those boys could hear. And they gone.... I just smiled and said, “Just relax now. They’re gone.” she hugged me, still shaking, and started crying obviously I can understand this My eyes got wet too. I tried to calm her down, then called a cab and sent her home safely. I didn’t even notice that an old woman was standing nearby watching everything. She suddenly came to me, smiled, and said, “If I were your age today, I would have done the exact same thing.” She said she felt happy that even today there are girls who don’t leave another girl alone when she’s scared and being harassed. And for all those people who just ignored it… this is a matter of shame.
