China has launched the world’s first commercial underwater data center powered by offshore wind near Shanghai’s Lingang area. This 24-megawatt facility is now fully operational with nearly 2,000 servers for AI tasks, big data, 5G networks, self-driving cars, and smart robots. The sealed units sit about 10 meters underwater and 10 kilometers offshore next to a large wind farm. More than 95% of the power comes directly from the wind turbines via special cables that reduce power loss, while seawater cools the servers naturally through heat exchangers. This eliminates the need for large cooling systems or fresh water, giving it an energy efficiency rating of about 1.15 compared to 1.5 to 2.0 for typical land data centers. The project progressed rapidly: the deal was signed in June 2025, construction ended by October 2025, tests ran in February 2026, and full service started in mid-May 2026, at a total cost of about 1.6 billion yuan. This solves two major data center problems : high electricity use from AI and heavy water consumption for cooling by combining clean wind power with the sea’s natural cooling.

2034 Earth–Venus–Mars opportunity looks promising. 10–15 on-orbit refueling operations may be needed to make a crewed ship full. Most can be done at an altitude of 180–200 km, made possible by Starship’s size. The final refueling may be performed at a higher altitude of ~2000 km, just below the Van Allen belt. Earth departure on 2034-08-21 from 2000 km orbit. A Trans-Venus Injection burn of ~3.7 km/s will place the ship on an Earth–Venus–Earth free-return trajectory. Venus flyby is expected on 2034-12-19, 120 days after departure. Two weeks before the encounter, if the mission proceeds as planned, a 25-m/s maneuver will shift the trajectory from Earth-return to Mars-bound. If not, the ship will free return to Earth in September 2035. The Venus gravity assist will send the ship into another Earth free-return trajectory, with Mars flyby around 2035-06-02. One week before reaching Mars, a system health check will determine whether to commit to Mars Orbit Insertion. If it’s GO, a small 10-m/s manuever will put the ship to less than 100 km altitude periapsis. Otherwise, a Mars flyby will lead to an Earth return in May 2036. The ship will enter the Martian atmosphere at about 9.4 km/s, performing an aerobrake to slow to 4.88 km/s and capture into a 100x140000 km, 7-day period high elliptical orbit. At apoapsis, a 50-m/s plane change will align the inclination with Mars’ equator, followed by additional aerobraking to remove about 650 m/s of velocity, placing the spacecraft in a 120x6128 km orbit. A 550-m/s burn at 6128 km altitude will then adjust the trajectory into Phobos orbit. The ship will stay at Phobos for about 7 days. The Mars–Phobos L1 point is only about two miles above Phobos’ surface, and Mars would dominate nearly half the sky, appearing about 80 times larger than the Moon from Earth. The ship will depart for Deimos afterward. Two burns totaling roughly 750 m/s will transfer the ship from Phobos to Deimos. And the ship will stay at Deimos for 7 days more. From Deimos, the ship will raise its apoapsis to form a 20000x140000 km altitude, 7-day orbit, requiring about 420 m/s of delta-v. At apogee, a 50-m/s burn will adjust inclination and lower periapsis to ~500 km for final Trans-Earth Injection. If time and propellant allow, the orbit can be aligned to a polar inclination for Mars ice-cap observations before departure. A Trans-Earth Injection burn at 500 km altitude, requiring 1.5–1.6 km/s of delta-v in early July 2035. If departure on the first days in July, Earth arrival is expected in December 2035. If missed that window, a March 2036 arrival may look more feasible. Nominal mission duration: 490 days, with 30 days in Mars orbit and 14 days at Phobos and Deimos. I’d like to share that I’ll be leaving Bandai Namco at the end of 2025. With the TEKKEN series reaching its 30th anniversary—an important milestone for a project I’ve devoted much of my life to—I felt this was the most fitting moment to bring one chapter to a close. My roots lie in the days when I supported small local tournaments in Japanese arcades and in small halls and community centers overseas. I still remember carrying arcade cabinets by myself, encouraging people to “Please try TEKKEN,” and directly facing the players right in front of me. The conversations and atmosphere we shared in those places became the core of who I am as a developer and game creator. Even as the times changed, those experiences have remained at the center of my identity. And even after the tournament scene grew much larger, many of you continued to treat me like an old friend—challenging me at venues, inviting me out for drinks at bars. Those memories are also deeply precious to me. In recent years, I experienced the loss of several close friends in my personal life, and in my professional life I witnessed the retirement or passing of many senior colleagues whom I deeply respect. Those accumulated events made me reflect on the “time I have left as a creator.” During that period, I sought advice from Ken Kutaragi—whom I respect as though he were another father—and received invaluable encouragement and guidance. His words quietly supported me in making this decision. Over the past four to five years, I’ve gradually handed over all of my responsibilities, as well as the stories and worldbuilding I oversaw, to the team, bringing me to the present day. Looking back, I was fortunate to work on an extraordinary variety of projects—VR titles (such as Summer Lesson), Pokkén Tournament, the SoulCalibur series, and many others, both inside and outside the company. Each project was full of new discoveries and learning, and every one of them became an irreplaceable experience for me. To everyone who has supported me, to communities around the world, and to all the colleagues who have walked alongside me for so many years, I offer my deepest gratitude. I’ll share more about my next steps at a later date. Leopold Aschenbrenner's 13F finally dropped and X is already full of the DUMBEST interpretations possible! Please read this. 1. The 13F shows what the fund held as of quarter-end: March 31. 2. A huge part of the positions are PUTS. Does this mean he's bearish today? -> WE DON'T KNOW! Everyone is just guessing. It is completely possible that he bought those puts during the quarter as the Iran war escalated, to hedge, and they increased a ton in value. They might have started as small positions that simply grew a lot. He might have sold them at the exact bottom, perfectly timed the market, and gone 100% long for the massive rally that started on April 1. OR he was insanely bearish, bought a lot of puts, kept them, and completely screwed up by being massively positioned in puts before the craziest rally ever. He could have made the most genius move or the dumbest move possible and now look like an idiot. WE DON'T KNOW. This is the issue with such delayed reports. But of course today, you will see everyone on X go crazy with: "Leopold went short aaaaaaaaaaah, the sky is falling, he's calling for a crash." But that was months ago, in the middle of the Iran volatility! We have no idea if he added to his puts or if he's currently 100% long or maybe even bought calls?! We don't know if his move was good or bad. So while you're reading all these takes on X today, know that you're going to read a ton of complete nonsense from people who have no idea what they're talking about. But here are some things that stand out to me! While he decreased his $BE exposure, Bloom Energy was still his biggest position (6.4%) Closely followed by $SNDK (5.3%) He also cut $CRWV from 8% -> 4% I honestly can't believe he missed $NBIS so badly. He also reduced his $IREN position from 6% to 3% (even though he net added shares). Big $CORZ cut aswell from 7.6% -> 3% HUGE cut in his $CRWV calls from 14% -> 1% A lot of $TE investors are getting excited he built a position, which is definitely bullish, but it's worth mentioning that was most likely before the big drop after the disappointing earnings and it's a tiny 0.3% position for him. One of the funniest positions is a 0.15% $GLW Put lol. 100% / Completely went out of: $INTC Calls (13.5% -> 0%) $CIFR (2.8% -> 0%) $EQT (2.4% -> 0%) Photonics: $LITE (8.6% -> 0%) That one is super interesting to me. Also cut $TSEM and $COHR from 1.5% -> 0%

US electricity prices are surging well ahead of inflation: Electricity prices jumped +6.1% YoY in April, the highest reading since January. This marks the 8th monthly increase above +5.0% over the last 10 months. At the same time, overall US CPI rose +3.8% YoY, the biggest increase since May 2023. This means electricity prices are rising ~61% faster than the broader inflation rate. This comes as surging power demand from data centers is straining US energy grids, pushing wholesale electricity costs sharply higher. Since January 2020, average US electricity prices have soared +44%, to an all-time high. Over the same period, the CPI has risen +28%, also to its highest level on record. US electricity price growth is accelerating.

Announcing agentic performance benchmarking for Speech to Speech models on Artificial Analysis. We use 𝜏-Voice to measure tool calling and customer interaction voice agent capabilities in realistic customer service scenarios Even the strongest Speech to Speech (S2S) models today resolve only about half of realistic customer service scenarios end-to-end - a meaningful gap relative to frontier text-based agents on the same tasks. Voice channels introduce significant complexity: challenging accents, background noise, and packet loss, all while requiring fast responses, consistency across long multi-turn conversations, and reliable tool use. Performance also varies considerably by audio condition: in clean audio some models perform notably better, but realistic conditions continue to pose a challenge. Conversation duration also varies meaningfully across models, with implications for both customer experience and operational cost. About 𝜏-Voice: Our Agentic Performance benchmark is based on 𝜏-Voice (Ray, Dhandhania, Barres & Narasimhan, 2026), which extends 𝜏²-bench into the voice modality to evaluate S2S models on realistic customer service tasks. It measures multi-turn instruction following, support of a simulated customer through a complete interaction, and tool use against simulated customer service systems. The simulated user combines an LLM-driven decision model with realistic audio synthesis: diverse accents, background noise, and packet loss modelled on real network conditions. This complements our Big Bench Audio benchmark measuring intelligence and Conversational Dynamics (Full Duplex Bench subset) benchmark measuring conversational naturalness. Scores are the average of three independent pass@1 trials. We evaluate under realistic audio conditions using the 𝜏²-bench base task split across three domains: ➤ Airline (50 scenarios): e.g., changing a flight, rebooking under policy constraints ➤ Retail (114 scenarios): e.g., disputing a charge, processing a return ➤ Telecom (114 scenarios): e.g., resolving a billing issue, troubleshooting a service problem Task success is determined by deterministic checks against expected actions and final database state, consistent with the 𝜏²-bench evaluator. Key results: xAI's Grok Voice Think Fast 1.0 is the clear leader at 52.1%, averaging 5.6 minutes per conversation, the second-longest overall. OpenAI's GPT-Realtime-2 (High) (39.8%, 3.0 min) and GPT-Realtime-1.5 (38.8%, 4.8 min) follow, with Gemini 3.1 Flash Live Preview - High close behind at 37.7% (3.8 min). Speech to Speech is a fast evolving modality and we expect movement in rankings as we continue to add new models with these capabilities, and model robustness improves.
