Meta just gave its smart-glasses lineup a major refresh at Connect.
Here are all the biggest updates:
• Ray-Ban Meta Audio: Meta’s first camera-free Ray-Bans, starting at $349, shipping Oct. 3, with up to 12 hours of battery life
• 3rd-gen Ray-Ban Meta: starts at $449, gets slimmer frames, 9-hour battery, improved mics and a programmable action button that can launch Muse
• Muse is coming to Meta glasses, bringing the company’s new AI assistant into its wearable lineup
• Display glasses: expanding internationally and online, with cycling/transit navigation, photo editing, more notifications, calendar controls and a new Explore app
• Meta’s cheaper in-house glasses now start at $249
Later this year, Meta also plans 360-degree Dolby Atmos recording, more on-device processing, and an FDA-cleared hearing-aid mode that costs $150 to activate.
Meta is still working toward full AR glasses, but CTO Andrew Bosworth would not commit to a 2027 launch.
the definition of "slop" is not constant
something we may see as impressive today will be seen as slop a few months down the road
i think the constant part is - if something can be one-shot by AI, it is slop
because if you can one-shot it, millions of others can too. and when that happens, people associate it with being low-effort and worthless
this is one of the reasons that fully automated software factories are not going to work because by definition what they produce is always slop
the ones that do work are those that put humans at the center and are designed to help amplify human craftsmanship rather than trying to replace it
Donald Trump welcomed President Xi Jinping and his wife at Joint Base Andrews as the Chinese leader landed for a state visit.
Trump shook hands with the couple, becoming the first US president in around six decades to receive a foreign counterpart at that airport.
.@SecScottBessent: With Operation Economic Outcast, we are squeezing the Iranians like they've never seen. Today, 80-90% of external flights from Iran got shut down as the economic pressure continues to mount.
I genuinely can’t believe I’m reposting an ASS benchmark, but this is too ridiculous not to archive.
Apparently Opus 5.5 has achieved a generational leap in ass technology.
We now have model comparisons for anatomy, stretch marks, water effects and, apparently, jiggle physics.
I’m preserving this for the historical record.
