She says ICE refused. ICE says she was offered the option and abandoned him. Wendy says she asked repeatedly. The uncle she was forced to leave Orlín with had a documented history of beating his own children with cords and wires. He’s been charged with felony murder. The medical examiner found burns, multiple broken ribs, a transected pancreas, and evidence of repeated blows over a month. ICE Director Todd Lyons issued a press release calling Wendy a mother who “abandoned” her son to “a violent murderer.” A Florida activist told reporters she knew of six children left behind in a single week after their parents were deported.
