Starting to think it’s not obvious whether we should want the US or China to win the AI race.

Maybe with 3D modeling and software development becoming so cheap, someone can finally build something interesting for the Apple Vision Pro, which I probably haven’t touched in a year because there is basically zero content.

Many things are unclear about how they will play out with AI. But there is one thing I have 100% confidence in:
THERE WILL BE NO ALIGNMENT.
Meaning: there will be powerful agents that care about nothing other than their own survival and increasing their own power.
The best we can hope for is that at least some agents are, in some form, aligned with some of us.

Pretty scary thought that every plan, complex idea, private note, architecture choice, creative proof, or whatever digital artifact you create will sooner or later be absorbed into some model’s weights - unless you avoid, like, 99% of all cloud software.

Curious, how do you see yourself?
Still puzzled by AI apparently having the precision and rigor to create complex new mathematical proofs, while I gave Astra a clearly solvable task, it ran for 12h (!) straight but essentially completely lost track and came back empty-handed.
