Expert takeaways on memory: > Q3'26 DRAM contract prices rose below expectations due to "budget ceiling" for data center customers after two quarters of 70-80% increases. > Negotiations on HBM4 with Nvidia have reportedly stalled over a near 100% price hike. > Samsung's LTAs with Google, Meta, AWS, Microsoft, and Oracle lock in about 70% of 2027 server DRAM capacity. > LTAs cannot eliminate the industry's cyclicality. > NAND pricing approaching $0.40/GB LTA ceiling by Q4'26, with ~54% of total NAND capacity being contract-locked. $SNDK $DRAM $MU

.@fal's Gorkem Yurtseven and Batuhan Taskaya on making an open source video model 35x faster, and what Hollywood wanted after they built it: Last month, MiniMax released H3, an open source video model. fal rebuilt it - they cut down the steps the model takes to make a video, rewrote the code under each stage, and got the GPUs to 70-80% of their theoretical ceiling instead of their usual 30-40%. No quality loss. Video now generates faster than you can film it. The models have gotten so cheap and fast that end users aren't even asking for improvements in either category anymore. The gap has moved to quality, or how closely the model follows the prompt. Hollywood wasn't a customer a year ago and is now fal's fastest growing segment. Studios love it for the little things - extending a shot, moving the camera, changing the lighting. Those edits land 80-90% of the time. fal is chasing 99.9%. CEO of Intel, Lip-Bu Tan, mentions memory, power, high speed connectivity, optical, and liquid cooling as critical semiconductor supply chain constraints: "I think a lot of people didn't realize — at the beginning of last year, I said memory was going to be the big bottleneck, and it turned out to be the case. Next year it's going to be even worse. Capacity is very constrained, and a lot of business has slowed down because they cannot get enough memory. Memory prices have also gone up a lot — five, six, seven times. So it's difficult when you're doing a low-end mobile phone or laptop and you cannot have 70–80% of your cost come from memory. The other part, of course, everybody knows is power. Besides just trying to get more power — I was a nuclear engineer scientist before, so power is very important — but also how to drive the architecture to make it lower power for certain applications. High-speed connectivity is very important, and that's why I backed Credo Semiconductor, Astera Labs. Optical has also become very important — I backed Celestial AI, which was sold to Marvel, and Dust Photonics, which I sold to Credo, along with a few others I've invested in. The other part is cooling. Cooling is a big problem — beyond air cooling, now there's liquid cooling and microfluidic cooling, so I've invested in a couple of them." Qiao Wang: My Personal Crypto Portfolio Holds Only Bitcoin and Zcash On August 29, 2026, Alliance DAO Founding Partner Qiao Wang @QwQiao said on the Steady Lads Podcast that his personal crypto portfolio currently consists only of Bitcoin and Zcash, as he prefers to keep his holdings simple. In dollar terms, stocks account for around 70%–80% of his portfolio, while crypto represents roughly 20%–30%. On a risk-adjusted basis, however, his Zcash exposure is comparable to—and may even exceed—his entire stock portfolio. His equity holdings are mainly concentrated in the Magnificent Seven, and he said he did not participate in the memory stock rally.

FTC & 22 STATES TO SUE $AMZN OVER ALLEGED SECRET AD PRICE HIKES The FTC is expected to allege Amazon manipulated its ad auctions by inserting its own “soft reserve” bid above the runner-up bid, effectively raising the minimum price advertisers had to pay. The practice allegedly began in 2018 and generated tens of billions of dollars over seven years. In recent years, Amazon allegedly used the mechanism to raise the minimum bid 70-80% of the time, with the FTC claiming it pushed pay-per-click costs up as much as 50% on major shopping days. Amazon generated $68B in advertising revenue in 2025. The case would be the FTC’s third major action against the company, following its Prime case and the ongoing monopoly lawsuit.

FTC TO SUE AMAZON $AMZN OVER SECRET AD PRICE INCREASES The FTC and more than 20 state attorneys general plan to file today in Seattle federal court, alleging Amazon secretly raised the minimum price advertisers paid to promote products on its retail platform and took in tens of billions of dollars over seven years, per WSJ. - Starting in 2018, Amazon entered its own "soft reserve" bid above the runner-up bid, raising the price paid for the ad, the FTC will allege - In recent years it stepped in to lift the minimum 70-80% of the time - The agency claims the practice raised pay-per-click costs 50% on major shopping days Amazon's public advertiser page, last updated in April, says it uses "reserve pricing" that "may affect the cost of your ad." Amazon earned $68B from ads in 2025. This is the FTC's third major case against the company, after a $2.5B Prime settlement last year and a monopolization suit set for trial next year.
