So far, aircraft assigned to the incident have delivered: ✈️ 219,000 gallons of retardant 🚁 68,000 gallons of water Of that water, approximately 20,000 gallons were dropped at night by crews aided by Night Vision Goggles. Federal aviation officials have launched an AI-powered air traffic control tool at the three main airports serving the D.C. area, and will gradually expand the tool to other airports in the U.S., the Transportation Department said. It’s expected to help reduce delays and cancellations earlier.
