A new CBS News poll just dropped. Three out of four Americans say their incomes are not keeping up with inflation. Trump’s approval is at the lowest level of his second term. Even among Republicans, his inflation rating has slipped to 63 percent — compared to 89 percent on immigration and 85 percent overall. For the first time in three years, the average American worker’s wages fell year-over-year after accounting for inflation. A growing number of Americans say the opportunities available to them are worse than the opportunities their parents had. Gas is up 28 percent from a year ago. Inflation is the highest it has been in three years. Whirlpool just reported a “recession-level industry decline.” This is the same President who told Fox News last week that the war’s economic pain was “short-term” — and that he doesn’t think about the financial situation of Americans. Three quarters of Americans just told CBS they are not keeping up.

A new CBS News poll released Sunday shows President Trump’s approval rating falling to 37%, the lowest of his second term, as public confidence in the economy hits its weakest level in years.

Bari Weiss may be losing control of CBS News. According to Puck News today, Paramount-Skydance is in informal talks to strip her of day-to-day control over 60 Minutes, CBS Evening News, and CBS Mornings. CNN CEO Mark Thompson is being considered to take over. David Ellison met with him in recent days. Five months ago, Weiss killed Sharyn Alfonsi’s 60 Minutes piece on CECOT — the El Salvador prison where the Trump administration sends deportees. Alfonsi’s email to staffers: “It is factually correct. Pulling it now is not an editorial decision. It is a political one.” Weiss reportedly threatened to sue Alfonsi over the dispute. Yesterday Anderson Cooper left 60 Minutes. He had been on Weiss’s short list to anchor the Evening News. He turned the anchor job down. Then he declined to renew his 60 Minutes contract. Paramount’s official statement today: “Bari has the full support of Paramount and David Ellison. Reports suggesting otherwise are inaccurate.” Under the proposed restructure, Weiss wouldn’t be fired. She’d keep “broad editorial influence.” She’d just lose the daily TV control. The face changes. The CECOT story stays buried.

Sgt. 1st Class Jose Serrano and his wife Deisy Rivera Ortega sent CBS News a video on their way home announcing that she was released from immigration custody on Thursday after a month of detention.
