RICHMOND TAXPAYERS DESERVE ANSWERS Nearly $295,000 in City gift-card costs remained unreconciled, and it took Global News,not City Council to expose the issue. Kash Heed and Alexa Loo both served on Richmond’s Finance Committee during 2023 and 2024. Richmond residents deserve to know: Who knew what, when did they know it, and what did they do about it? A big thank you to the Richmond RCMP and Metro Vancouver Transit Police for the work they do every day to help keep our community safe. Today, while walking near the Capstan Canada Line Station, I witnessed Richmond RCMP and Transit Police stop and arrest a suspect. I could see a significant number of brand-new tools, still in their boxes, spilling out of the vehicle. The stop unfolded in a challenging location, with officers working around lanes of oncoming traffic. It was a potentially dangerous situation for the officers, the individuals involved, and passing motorists, but police worked to bring the situation under control. Seeing situations like this firsthand is a reminder of the difficult and unpredictable circumstances our police officers face while serving Richmond. Conservative Richmond will continue to support the Richmond RCMP and advocate for the resources they need to do their jobs effectively. We will also work with the provincial and federal governments to address the major public-safety challenges affecting our community and ensure every level of government is doing its part. Richmond residents deserve to feel safe in their neighbourhoods, at our transit stations, in our parks, and throughout our city. Thank you to the Richmond RCMP and Metro Vancouver Transit Police officers who were out there doing their jobs today, and to all those who serve our community every day. Public safety matters.
